Humana Dental Insurance is the dental insurance arm of Humana Inc. They are one of the most reliable dental insurance providers in the United States, backed up by the expertise and support of Humana Inc. Humana Dental Insurance provides various dental insurance plans and coverage that provide benefits and assistance for the dental health requirements of their clients.

The dental plans offered by Humana are very reasonable and concentrate on providing coverage for basic and preventive dental care. Humana dental plans are very simple and client-oriented, which lessens the difficulties for plan owners. Having 130,000 dental practitioners, and more being added in their network, Humana Dental Insurance is one of the ten largest dental insurance providers in the United States.

There are Humana dental plans intended for individual clients and those designed for groups of people, specifically for companies or employers who would like to provide their employees with dental insurance.

People can choose a dental plan for individuals from any of the following dental insurance plans offered by their Humana One Dental Plans. There is a prepaid plan called the C550 dental plan. This Humana dental plan lets a client select a dentist from the provider’s network. The selected dentist will become the client’s primary care specialist. Clients can change or choose another dentist if they want to, as long as they are part of the network.

Another Humana dental plan for individuals is the Preventive Plus plan. This is a PPO or Preferred Provider Organization style of plan. This kind of dental plan lets the client go to any dentist that they like or prefer, but if the client opts to go to a dentist that is part of Humana’s network, the client will receive discounts on services under the coverage of the plan.

Lastly there is the Dental Discount plan. This is actually not an insurance plan, but this gives the client the benefit to receive 20% to 50% on several dental care services.

Humana dental plans that employers or companies can avail are the Traditional Preferred Plan, Preventive Plus Plan, Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO).

The Traditional Preferred Plan lets the person covered by the insurance plan go to any dentist that they want. Although they can get up to 30% in discounts on services if they go to a dentist part of the provider’s network.

Preventive Plus plans provide 50% discount for basic dental services that are covered by the plan. This includes tooth extractions, tooth fillings (amalgam and composite), non-surgical root removal and emergency pain relief. For other preventive services, the plan can give discounts of up to 100%. These are oral check-ups, regular cleaning, topical fluoride treatment, and X-rays.

Humana Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) dental plans are similar to the ones provided for individual clients, although the client will have to spend some of their own money when they choose to see a dentist who is not part of Humana’s network.

For individuals who also want coverage for their family or dependents, there is the Humana Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) dental plan. This type of dental plan only allows clients and dependents to choose dentists from Prepaid/DHMO network of Humana. The selected dentist becomes the primary dental care provider for the covered individuals. Crown and bridgework services are included in the coverage of this Humana dental plan.
