Blue Cross Part D
Medicare is a US government insurance program which provides health insurance coverage to individuals who are 65 years of age or older. They must meet certain criteria in order to be able to receive Medicare benefits, and they must have been paying Medicare contributions for at least 10 years. Since its introduction in 1965, Medicare has been changed and improved to better serve the people who receive its benefits. Medicare is now divided into four parts, Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D. Part A covers a large amount of hospital care that a recipient gets and Part B gives Medicare recipients the option to get their own non-compulsory medical insurance. For Part C, Medicare recipients can get their benefits from independent insurance providers and companies. Part D is designed to help Medicare Part A and Part B recipients in their prescription drugs by allowing them to avail an independent prescription drug plan or PDP. For Medicare Part C recipients, they can choose to get coverage for their prescription drugs if offered by their plan.
Medicare recipients can get Medicare Part C and Part D assistance from The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). BCBSA is one of the principal health insurance providers in the United States and is comprised of 39 individual health insurance companies and organizations. They have offices located in different states which administer health care and provide health insurance services for Americans.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Association has the Blue Cross Medicare Advantage and the Blue Cross Part D plan or Blue MedicareRx PDP. These are plans designed for people who are receiving Medicare benefits and would want to get Medicare Part C or Part D. Both are intended to greatly provide assistance to Medicare recipients and help them save lots of money.
Blue Cross Part D gives Medicare recipients insurance coverage for their prescription drugs. If an individual decides to get Blue Cross Part D, they will have to pay a monthly premium. They will also need to pay for a portion of their prescription costs. The amount that they will have to contribute is dependent on the plan that they decide to get. The monthly premiums and shared prescription costs can get lower if an individual qualifies for further assistance from Medicare.
The Blue Cross Part D prescription plan is an optional plan and it involves the some personal expenses from the individual. There is an annual $310.00 deductible, which is paid by the recipient before receiving Medicare benefits. There is also a monthly premium, and co-payments which usually are up to 20% of amount of costs.
